Otherwise you need to 3) be running blue so that you can counter their gy hate, or ] their Bojuka Bogs etc. The best options are to 1) have a rule 0 discussion about gy hate with your pod and could settle for single target gy interaction rather than a catch all answer or 2) go into a spikier, more explosive direction where your deck both puts the cards in the gy and reanimates them in the same turn, which narrows the interaction window for your opponents. I've run cards like Elixir or Perpetual Timepiece before, but they quite honestly feel bad in GY decks and I find the decks struggle to keep 2 mana open as they typically have a tap-out style of play most of the time. The truth is that magic is not friendly towards durdly graveyard recursion/toolbox decks. But I find it a bit interesting, as I've only just recently become cognitive of how strong my subconscious bias is about how I think about the game. It cannot compare, however, to the sheer unadulterated power that I suffer from of "I assumed Mono-Black."īit of a pointless ramble, perhaps. So yeah, "I assumed Golgari" is probably as fair an assumption as any. My subconscious mindset is completely warped, especially since most of my conversation about MTG occurs with my brother, who knows that I am always coming from the perspective of "how does this work in Mono-Black" the same way he comes at things from the mindset of "how does this work in Mono-Green." So I often find myself down at the local shop or online having to shake myself out of my mental bubble.
I've dabbled in other colors, but I think I've only ever played one deck that didn't have Black in it. It's kinda funny, I've been running Mono-Black in almost every format since I started playing ages ago. With Phyrexian Altar, Ashnod's Altar, Cabal Coffers, Carnival of Souls, etc, I most likely will have enough mana in a pinch to rescue the one or two creatures that I need to keep Gisa running. What I actually said here was: "I was looking through my cards," but I love this misinterpretation too much to correct it.Įdit: I've thought it through, and as far as my deck specifically, since some people seem to be honing in on that, I've concluded that Phyrexian Reclamation covers my bases satisfactorily. So I'm curious, what are your favorite anti-graveyard hate cards to use? If I have Phyrexian Altar in play then I just have to sack a couple of zombie tokens to pay for the activation, but otherwise I can see myself tapping out just in time to get ], and feeling frustrated about it. But having two mana open seems a bit questionable. And I thought to myself, maybe I should put this in the Gisa deck that I'm building, so if someone puts a ] on the stack, I can rescue my resources until such a time as I can find removal for the RiP.
